| Also known as
threadformers, taps eliminate any chip problems, as they form the
threads in the hole by displacing the metal. Especially effective
on most ductile materials such as low-carbon steel, leaded steels,
austenitic stainless steels, aluminum, zinc die castings, magnesium,
copper and brass. Nitride coating which will prevent galling and reduce
tool wear. Surface of the thread is burnished and has an excellent
finish. Best to use a good lubricant rather than a cutting oil. Can
be used in tapping heads and tapping machines as they pick up their
own lead when entering the hole. |
